Biography

Hooverphonic is a Belgian rock/pop group formed in1996. Though initially placed in the trip-hop genre,they quickly expanded their sound to the point wherethey could no longer be classified so easily. The band originally called themselves Hoover but laterchanged their name to Hooverphonic due to other groupsusing the Hoover name. The band achieved international recognition through the inclusion of the track "2Wicky" (from A New Stereophonic Sound Spectacular) on the soundtrack toBernardo Bertolucci's 1996 film Stealing Beauty. The original members of the group were vocalist LiesjeSadonius, keyboardist Frank Duchêne, bass guitaristand programmer Alex Callier, and guitarist RaymondGeerts. Sadonius left Hooverphonic on amicable termsshortly after the release of A New Stereophonic SoundSpectacular and was replaced by Geike Arnaert in early1998. Duchêne left the band after Blue Wonder PowerMilk. Hooverphonic released a Best Of album called "Singles96-06" in 2006. This was their latest release underthe Sony label. Their latest album "The President of the LSD GolfClub" was released on 8th October 2007 in Belgium andHolland, which includes the single "ExpeditionImpossible". European Release is for January 2008(although available via mail-order).
