Song #2 - BEST WESTERNS

Song #2

Artist: Balthazar
Song: This Is A Flirt

Biography

Balthazar, a band from Kortrijk, is one of the youngest revelations in the Belgian pop/rock scene. Despite their young age, barley 20 years old, they continue the great tradition that our small country has when it comes down to these type of brilliant rock groups.

The group got together at the end of 2004 and already at the start of 2005 they won their first award, namely the national “Kunstbende” (which translates kind of as art gang) contest with the song “Lost and Found”. In the same year they could also won the Westtalent competition, the rock competition of the province of West Flandres. Their winning streak didn’t seem to be coming to an and as in 2006 they won the public’s price of Humo’s Rock Rally, a prestigious alternative talent searching competition. After participating in the Poppunt project “Raymand and his young heroes”, their guest performance in the popular feel good tv show “Debby and Nancy” and a nomination for the Zieta Award 2006 by WTV-Focus, the group slowly started to gain respect within the Flemish rock scene.

Even though Balthazar is still quite a young group, they already succeeded in creating their own sound. They are famous for flirting with the boundaries of pop and rock music. “This is a flirt” is the first proof of this, it is their debut single and will be featured on their debut album which is expected in 2008.
