Latino Lovers: Amaral -El universo sobre mi

Amaral is a music group from Zaragoza, Spain. The band consists of Eva Amaral (vocalist) and Juan Aguirre ( guitarist). They write their songs together. Eva Amaral started out as a drummer in another group until she set out with Aguirre to play her own material in 1997. Their musical style is often called pop rock, but it is often fused with Latin beats, folk rock, Portuguese fado, synthesizers, and complex poetic lyrics. Juan Aguirre was born in San Sebastián (also known as Donostia) in the Guipúzcoa province of Spain. He spent his childhood in the town of Gros and currently resides in Zaragoza.

They have released four albums and one dvd. Their fourth and last release, ‘Pájaros en la Cabeza’, has sold more than 700.000 albums, becoming the album of 2005 in sales terms (according to SGAE report). For this work, they had the contribution of famous flamenco singer Enrique Morente and holds (and releases on every song) refined arrangements (specially regarding to strings and guitars) that won´t let anyone go.

The song “El universo sobre mi” is taken from that album.

NorthernLites: ANNA ABREU - Ivory Tower

Anna Eira Margarida Mourão de Melo e Abreu (born February 7, 1990 in Vantaa, Finland) is a Finnish singer, who came to publicity becoming the runner-up on third edition of Finnish Idol. Her main genre is pop, but her songs also have R&B, soul and latin influences.

Anna's father lives in Portugal, whilst Anna and her mother live in Finland. Anna is fluent in Finnish, Portuguese (both her first languages), and also speaks English, Swedish and Spanish. She has recorded music in English, Portuguese and Spanish, the last two being very unusual language choices for Finnish singers.

Her debut album, Anna Abreu, released on August 22 2007, debuted on top of the Finnish album chart and ever since stayed within the top 40. The album has sold triple platinum, over 60,000 copies.

The tiny starlet, who is just over 150cm tall, also provides the voice of Rod Flanders in the Finnish dub-version of The Simpsons Movie.

Heartlands: Ich + Ich - Vom selben Stern

Berlin is well known to always have a surprise in store, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that a former New Wave icon like Annette Humpe teams up with a 29year younger R’n’B and HipHop addict like Adel Tawil to form the duo “Ich + Ich”. Well, to anyone but her mum, probably. But ever since Annette’s sister Inga publicly and musically declared her love for Codo, some alien good-for-nothing, not even that sounds likely.
The unlikely duo released its second album “Vom selben Stern” in the summer of 2007.
Unsurprisingly, it went to no4 in the german albumcharts in no time and the single of the same name stayed in the german singles top15 for a massive 20 weeks.
And just like Berlin’s cash machines disguise themselves quickly and unnoticeable to some, Annette and Adel change appearance all through the video. Again, it’s no surprise.

The Others: Dragonette- I get around

Originating in Toronto, Canada, Dragonette was formed when Lilith Fair-esque singer/songwriter Martina Sorbara met future husband Dan Kurtz, developing a relationship that served as the basis
for their song "Competition," about the tribulations of being the girl that a man fools around with on the side. They released a self-titled EP in late 2006, leading the blog Popjustice to name them as the
top act to watch in 2007. 2007 came... and went. Though Dragonette enjoyed massive amounts of critical, Internet, and underground acclaim, their gritty electrorock sound failed to ignite the public as
their first album, "Galore," peaked at #80 in Canada and failed to chart in the UK. "I Get Around" was their first single, a Top 60 'hit' in Canada, as well as breaking the UK top 100.

Best Westerns: Texas - Summer Sun

Texas was formed in Glasgow, Scotland in 1986 by Johnny McElhone, a veteran of the Scottish rock circuit who had been a part of two groups, Hipsway and Altered Images. Texas is comprised of McElhone, bass, Eddie Campbell, keyboards, Ally McErlaine, guitar, Richard Hynd, drums and Sharleen Spiteri, vocals and guitar. The group made their performing debut as a band in March, 1988 at a local college in Glasgow. Texas took their name from the 1985 Wim Wenders film, Paris, Texas, for which Ry Cooder composed the soundtrack.
Their third album, Rick's Road, (1993) solidified the band's U.S. following, though their debut album was Southside, a 1989 release. The material on Rick's Road includes a cover of Al Green's "Tired of Being Alone,'' which landed in the U.K.'s Top 20 and restored a great deal of the band's credibility in their homeland.
In 1999, Texas released Hush, whose first single, "In Our Lifetime," became a hit on American alternative radio. Hynd later left the group.

Latino Lovers:Cristina Branco-Sete pedaços de ventoM

Cristina Branco was born in Almeirim, Portugal in 1972. Although as a child she was not interested in the fado but in other styles like folk music, jazz, blues or bossa nova, it eventually grabbed her attention at the age of 18 because of a present by her grandfather, the album Rara e Inédita by Amália Rodrigues.
In 2000 she managed to release two very different albums: in France she recorded Post-Scriptum, following her previous line, whereas in the Netherlands she gave birth to Cristina Branco Canta Slauerhoff, which consists of several Dutch poems by Slauerhoff translated into Portuguese by Mila Vidal Paletti, with music by Custódio Castello.

In 2001 she signed with the French label Universal, which has produced all her following albums to date: Corpo Iluminado that same year, Sensus in 2003 and Ulisses in 2005, all of them achieving absolute success worldwide. A further live album called Live was released in 2006. In recent times she has devoted herself to revisit the Portuguese singer José Afonso, both in her latest concerts and in her last recording Abril (2007).

Southern Belles: Nataša Bekvalac - Dobro moje

Nataša Bekvalac is a pop star in Serbia and surrounding countries. She was born on September 25, 1980 in Novi Sad.
Bekvalac blasted onto the Balkan music scene in 2001 with her debut album Ne Brini (Don't worry); hits from the album included the title track and Samo si moj (You're only mine). The success continued in 2003 with Ništa lično (Nothing personal) which produced the single Mali Signali (Small Signals), with continuing success in 2005 with the album Stereo Ljubav (Stereo Love). A selection of singles from each album were chosen for her "Best of..." compilation released later in 2005. On December 14, 1007, she released her latest single named Dobro moje.
In 2006, she married Danilo Ikodinović, member of Serbian national waterpolo team, and gave birth to a baby girl Hana in March 2007.

Southern Belles:Mystique- S'Alli Selida

Mystique is a brand new Greek group consisted of Eleni Fureira ,Alkmini Hatziyanni and Maria Makri.

Their first CD single "S'Alli Selida" ,released in 2007 became a HUGE hit in Greece ,so huge that we never got to hear from them again.

Yet another girls' group which tried to make a breakthrough in the Greek music scene and failed miserably .They are not giving up though ,they threatened us that they will come back with yet another pop CD single and this time they are determined to stay.

The song was written after they got rejected to have a foursome with a handsome guy. Pay attention to the meaningful lyrics ,its all about that. They are still driving in their car ,Angelwings on-in true Azeri style-seeking more men.

Northern Lites:Hafdis Huld-Tomoko

Hafdis Huld started singing with the nine-piece Icelandic collective Gus Gus when she was just 15 years old.She toured the world throughout the rest of her teens, enjoying Europe-wide recognition and widespread attention across the UK and America. When she had time away from her busy performing schedule shedeveloped her acting career, winning lead roles in several Icelandic films.

On moving to the UK, Hafdis was keen to start writing her own songs and quickly collaboratedwith FC Kahuna, co-writing their singles 'Hayling' and 'Machine Says Yes' at the same time starting to develop songs that would eventually form the basis of her solo album 'Dirty Paper Cup' which won the 'Best Pop Album 2006' at the Icelandic Music Awards. The video for 'Tomoko' was nominated in the best video category.
Since then Hafdis has been busy promoting her album, completing a successful support tour with Scottish heart throb Paolo Nutini, playing across Europe as part of Les Femmes S'en Melent Festival as well as her own headline dates. She is now back in the studio working on her second album.

The Heartlands:Gosia Andrzejewicz singing "Pozwól ¯yæ"

After contributing to world history a Pope, two straight Teletubbie-twins and Edyta Gorniak, the Heartlandian republic of Poland is back to make up for it all by giving the world what it really wants and needs : Boobs!
This fine pair saw the light in the city of Bytom and goes by the name of Gosia Andrzejewic! After graduating, Gosia not only discovered that she was a natural blonde but also that she loved music and Italian guys. By 2004 all this resulted in her debut-album, originally called “Gosia Andrzejewic”, and her first hit “Slowa”.
Three years and another album and a few newly discovered passions later, Gosia felt the time had come to confront her audience with the Best of Gosia as well as the self-penned smash hit “Pozwól Zýc”. While her compatriot-by-marriage Isis Gee had to resort to a minor contest, Gosia felt that she was ready for the big time and choose to represent the Heartlands at the upcoming EPP Spring Festival!

Best Westerns : Dis-moi encore by Eté 67

The guys from été 67 come from Tilff, a suburb of Liege in francophone Belgium. The name été 67 (Summer of 67) comes from the Summer of 1967 and the flower power in San Fransisco and the rest of America. The guys of été 67 met eachother because they all are fans of the music from that time. If it wasn't for that music we would never have met and our group would never have existed explains Nicolas Michaux, singer of été 67.

Members of été 67 are: Nicolas Berwart, Raphaël Breuer, Xavier Dellicour, Bryan Hayart, Renaud Magis and Nicolas Michaux.
